AP CM Naidu’s Neglect ‘Cost Funding’ For Vizag?

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s indifference attitude in holding elections to Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation has cost the city flow of funds from the centre.

At a time when the ruling party is crying foul over the lack of funds for the development of residuary Andhra Pradesh, the Centre has reportedly withheld release of Rs 100 crore to Visakhapatnam under AMRUT scheme, besides funds due to local bodies from the Centre.

The port city was not mentioned in the list of cities eligible for funds under Amrut scheme in the recently presented Union budget.

Reason: Elections to the GVMC and the surrounding municipalities have not been held for quite some time and unless there are elected bodies to any civic body, the Centre will not release funds.

As the government failed to conduct the elections, the Centre has stopped funding to the port city.

Now, what is the point in Naidu blaming it on the centre for not releasing funds?

In fact, the Centre has not been releasing funds to several schemes only because there are no accounts for the funds released in the past, say BJP leaders. #KhabarLive
