All Schools Will Observe Half-Day Classes From March 15 Onwards In Telangana

The system of half-day schools, with the summer heat kept in mind, is likely to slightly advance this year, with half-day classes likely to commence from the first week of March itself. The usual practice every year has been to launch the half-day school system from March 15.

However, with the mercury levels soaring already with indications of a severe summer ahead, the School Education Department is likely to advance the schedule for half-day schools to the first week of March.

A proposal would be sent by the department seeking the advancement of the half-day schools to the government for approval. Currently, over 58 lakh students are studying in 40,000 schools including government, aided and private ones across the State.

All the schools have been instructed to complete the syllabus for Class I to IX by February 28. They were asked to take up revision, remedial teaching and preparations for Summative Assessment (SA)-II exam during the month of March. The SA-II exams for Classes I to IX will commence from March 30 and conclude on April 8.

The answer scripts of the students should be evaluated and results should be declared to students and their parents by April 10. Students should submit their progress report to schools with the parent’s signature on the last working day for the academic year 2018-19 on April 12.

With the SSC examinations being scheduled from March 16, all the schools were asked to complete the pre-final examination for Class X students before February 28. All the schools will break for summer vacation from April 13 to May 31 and re-open for the academic year 2019-20 on June 1. #KhabarLive
