International ‘Sweet Festival’ In Hyderabad, Over 1,000 Varieties On Display

Participants from 25 Indian states and 15 international cities, specially women, have come down to Hyderabad to showcase their traditional home made variety of sweet.

If you have a sweet tooth, then you just can’t miss the “International Sweet Festival” from January 13-15th in Hyderabad. The first of its kind festival organised by the Telangana Government, over 1,000 varieties of sweets are on display for the food enthusiasts.

Participants from 25 Indian states and 15 international cities, specially women, have come down to Hyderabad to showcase their traditional home made variety of sweet.

Speaking to KhabarLive, Telangana’s tourism and culture secretary B Venkateshan said, “The idea behind the festival is to showcase the diversity of India in a sweet way. In the festival people will get to know about different kinds of traditional sweets and recipes that have been passed down to the current generations from their ancestors.”

Interestingly, the festival does not have any hotels, shopkeepers, caterers or commercial representation, but only women participants with different variety of sweets.

Pramila, who has come from coastal Karnataka with a local variety of Laddu said, “Its for the first time that such a festival is being organised and we are very excited. We are 52 people in our group who have come to display various sweets.

The entire festival is divided into different areas according to the variety of sweets. At the Laddu section, one can find 78 variety of Laddus. At the Halwa section, one can find 44 varieties. And at the Kheer section, there are 68 varieties.
